HOLIDAY ELECTRIC TRAIN EXHIBIT
Schedule to Be announced; 6-8 p.m. Kershaw-Cornwallis House.
Free Admission; Donations welcomed!
You and your family are invited to enter the magical world of
toy trains at the Holiday Toy Train Exhibit at the Kershaw-Cornwallis House at Historic Camden Revolutionary War Site. Now in
its eighth year, the Christmas exhibit was conceived by toy train collector and enthusiast Stephen Smith, a well-known architect
who resides in Camden. Seeking the opportunity to both “play” with his collection and share his passion for the hobby with the public,
he has invited like-minded midlands train hobbyists to join him. They will be on hand to run the trains and share their knowledge of
the early production sets for kids and the detailed reproduction scale model trains, both highly collectible today.
Be prepared to be mesmerized by the electric powered trains they have set up on the four train
layouts. Locomotives toot their whistles and blow smoke as they chug around the tracks passing accurately scaled buildings and other
scenic accessories, then cross the impressive trestle bridges. Some are early O-gauge model sets, others, sophisticated toy train
systems of today. All are fabulous and emphasize why toy trains are considered the world’s greatest hobby!
